Monday is officially the ‘Day Of The Moon, a direct translation from Latin, while in old English, mōnandæg.
In the Roman calendar, the week started on Sunday and Monday was referred as the ‘second day’. Currently in Portuguese, Mondays are still referred as ‘Segunda Feria’ which used to confuse me a lot when wanting to set up a meeting with a Portuguese friend.
That aside, Mondays are ruled by the moon, which also represents the ‘mother’, our emotions and all things relating to the feminine cycle. The moon in fact has been long associated to the female menstrual cycle.
So if you are trying for a baby, a Monday and a full moon are ideal times.
The energy of the moon is also embodied by the Goddesses Diana (the Roman name for the Greek Goddess Artemis, Goddess of the hunt and fertility), Selene (the mother Goddess, Sister of Elios, the Sun) and the Roman Goddess Luna (the complement of Sol, the Sun seen as God).
If you like our winged friends, Archangel Gabriel, keeper of the white flame is the Guardian of the Moon, therefore a good angel to invoke to bring in light and joy.
Monday is also a really good day to call upon Archangel Jophiel, the angel for divine inspiration and to help in developing a spiritual practice.
Colours good for Mondays are silver, white and grey; crystals that resonates with Mondays are Moonstone, Pearl, Aquamarine, Selenite while the metal is Silver.
If you like magic, Mondays are good for rituals involving female fertility, clairvoyance, working with faeries and doing dream work.
